It’s exciting - Blizzard Entertainment presents Tyrande & Malfurion: Seeds of Faith, the most recent addition to the Leaders of Azeroth short story series.
Elune, the High Priestess, is the leader of the Kaldorei. Tyrande Whisperwind has fought a millennia of battles with the worst of these world-shaking battles being the demonic Burning Legion.
Throughout her trials and tribulations under the soothing moonlight, her battles - losses and wins - she has relied on the Goddess Elune, and the Malfurion Stormrage support and love. This is what has allowed her to push on through so many hardships.
However, Cataclysm is very different than what Tyrande has experienced in the past. The chaos that is smothering the world now threatens to destroy the grit and the iron will of the night’s elf leader. These are the nights of uncertainty, so Tyrande is in desperate need of her strength, so that she can successfully lead her people through the darkness by herself.
Tyrande Whisperwind is the oldest native racial leader on Azeroth who is still alive. That’s quite a distinction. She’s also known for being the most enigmatic. For the most part she’s remained a behind the scenes figure who has rarely spoken.
Tyrande as leader of her people is also leader of the one she loves, who deserts her for other duties. Tyrande is left to try to pull it all together. Then the former Highborne makes a decision to launch an arcane storm over Ashenvale and Tyrande must banish the Highborne from Kalimdor.
What Tyrande loves most about Malfurion is unclear. Perhaps it is his quiet nature and patience that played an important role in his path to leadership. Tyrande waits for Malfurion , while she leads her people to rebuild the Night Elf society by treating people with the respect and kindness they deserve.
Tyrande sighed and placed her hand on his shoulder reassuringly. "Your courage and steadfastness have brought us this news, Morthis. Thank you for that. This is the first we have heard from the mainland since this tragedy struck. We will ask no more of you now. Please, rest."
The scout nodded and walked out in slow, tired strides.
Malfurion turned to his wife. Her beautiful, nearly ageless face was stricken with worry, fear, and a trace of the immovable determination he had come to recognize over their long courtship.
"There were five victims at Rut'theran," she said. "None whom I could save." "Tyrande..." Malfurion enclosed her hands in his comfortingly.
"I have to go to her, Mal. Shandris is like a daughter to me." She paused. "Perhaps the only daughter I will ever have."
The reviews on Tyrande and Malufrion are many and for the most part it seems there is a very positive perception of this story line. And while you can’t please everyone all of the time, many are calling Tyrande & Malfurion the best so far.
One of the complaints that seems to appear occasionally is the general feeling that lore-wise the story was not as accurate as it could have been, but then again that’s just the opinion of a few. Once you give this book a read you can make your own decision as to the lore accuracy.
This is a story that will keep you engaged. You won’t want to put it down and when you’re finished reading it you’ll be wanting for more, which is sure to follow.
