For those new to the tale, who wins the hunger games takes place in the damages of North America regarded now as Panem, an upcoming society in which the loaded and privileged dwell upon high (in addition to dress as if they are reviving the '80s), seeking down on the 12 by using numbers districts below these individuals. These districts characterize varied levels of poverty and skills, which includes miners, farmers, steelworkers and others, all of these provide for those above them. At one point these districts revolted versus what is known as The Capitol… that they lost. And as a result a yearly tradition began referred to as "The Hunger Games" in which one teenage boy along with girl from every single district are decided on as "Tributes" to fight in a very battle to the demise as a reminder of the Capitol's strength.

This is the story in the 74th Hunger Games and at the center of it is Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence), any resident of the the most fragile of all the districts, Center 12, where she is a loner, often taking on the restricted woods to be able to hunt for squirrels just to currently have something to business back at the market to help keep her mother and younger sis in good health. Her companion is Gale (Liam Hemsworth), whose purpose in this particular story is quite limited once the "Tribute" assortment is completed.
Known as "The Reaping", this "Tribute" selection comes to pass and is where Katniss finally volunteers to fight after your ex sister's name is sucked from the fish pan. Her male opposite number is the baker's son, Peeta Melark (Josh Hutcherson). Per the rules, only one or even neither of these a couple combatants will ever return to Area 12 alive.
"The Hunger Games" usually are treated as exactly that, games, they are public in the Capitol and all 12 Zones as people search on, the folks the Capitol cheering as you go along and members of just about every District looking with in sadness his or her children are murdered with the satisfaction of the oppressive government. This is actually the one area of the Hunger Games that hits home the hardest, the particular sense of community among the zones and their repressed desire to revolt along with attain freedom from under the Capitol's thumb. Two times in the film a hand gesture is made during which three fingers are usually held up in solidarity and it served as the just two times I believed any level of emotion or connection to the particular characters and their undesirable situation.
Clocking in at just beneath two-and-a-half hours it moves very quickly, never left over on one point very long and the casting, specially in the supporting roles, is excellent.
Visually, Ross paints your film with tough grey tones, laundering a lot of the color from most scenes, which often contrasts well with all the bright colors on the Capitol and the greens on the hunger games film. I do wish he / she hadn't been therefore interested in using hand-held camerawork as the film is frequently marred with a shaky image, which is noticeable early in an opening montage bringing out life in Area 12 where it was so helter-skelter it almost shown up the cameraman was slipping on ice whilst filming. I understand this is meant to give the audience a sense of "being there" but it thought as if I was creating a seizure.
