We are society this is dependent on power and electricity. We watch our television sets or DVDs, cook food from the fridge and freezers, go to work in offices with air conditioners and lights, and surf the Net from our homes. Each of these activities requires electricity and these days, without such convenience we are lost. We take for granted that we're on electric grids that are mostly powered by non renewable power sources. Oil and coal make up the bulk of our source for electricity and these two items do have a limited supply. The commotion for renewable power should be met seriously and with intention to find answers. Oftentimes, there's resistance into developing renewable power with some manifestly wanting things to stay the same. Without our support and need for renewable power, people who are endeavoring to develop it are typically caught in the rut due to the lack of funding. But if there is lobbying and interest for renewable power, bigger corporations and investors will start putting money for research and development and production price of existing renewable power generator like solar cell panels become less expensive because of economies of scale.
These days here are some of the renewable power chances that can be developed in order for us not to be conditional upon oil and coal :
- Wind Power. This technology has been around for centuries and the most popular wind mill of all was all too well writing in the book "Don Juan Quixote" wherein the deranged hero charged a windmill thinking it's a dragon. Nowadays modern windmills look more like giant turbo propeller engines and are a great source for energy and electricity. Electricity gathered from the present wind generating machines are without delay feed to the energy grid to be used by those part of the community.
- Geothermal energy. Energy taken from hot springs and the like are a great resource. Consider it like a steam engine where the build up of steam is harnessed and caught, and transformed into electricity for consumption.
- Wave Power. This technology is currently being developed for those living in coastal areas. Regard it like a machine placed deep in the sea capturing the motion of underground waves. The issues of its effect on the eco system make this technology ready for more development, making smaller machines that would absorb and take power from such waves.
- Bio mass conversion. Getting the ethanol from cows and other animals, converting this to energy. On a small scale level, there are pig farmers that have been doing such processes and have created excess energy to help electrify their homes.
