  • One final is done

Although it is not the toughest class I have ever met, I also felt stressed because It has too much homework when getting close to the end. As for the handout material, I even don't have any clue how to review them. Most of them look similar with each other. I can't remember exactly what I have memorized after After spending the whole weekend in studying it. Maybe that is the actual effect if someone indeed learned something.

I still keep dreaming after sleeping since last week. I can't hold myself. I don't know what's wrong with me. I am sure what I dreamed are going to happen. Anyway I will try at this week. Then it will be a great leap. I can't mention it because it is personal and sensitive stuff. Fortunately, I can focus on my test when I get the question sheet. It was a really tight 2-hour time so that I was just keep writing the answers I tried remembering to the end. I made it. I filled out all the questions based on what I learned. Hopefully it is not so bad for me. I need it to be 4 point finally to pay back my effort.

Tonight we were invited by our instructor to his house for a dinner. It is a relax time. Definitely I will go to have some Chinese food. Unluckily it began to snow when i were heading for it with Lina who help me to recognize the road. We had a great time and talking there with other classmates. It seems I felt comfortable to talk with my classmates based on some common topic there. We met a retired professor, Dr Lockwood and introduce ourselves to him. It is amazing that he can speak a little Chinese.

On the way back home, I almost had an accident. I made a sudden brake when getting close to the intersection. I can't control my car all of a sudden because of the icy road. I made a 90 angle turn and stopped there. The car did not turn over. What a surprise to me. Next time I will never driving too fast during the snowing season. I should take responsibility for me and other passengers.

  • Workshop offered by BTCI

  • baby shower and friend's return

  • camping in Ohio

How time flies! I have finished camping life in Ohio. It is an amazing experience and I really enjoyed it.

We were the first team composed of 8 people to get to the Camp Cotubic on Friday afternoon. So we have the chance to choose our favorite cabin there. All of these cabins are located around a lake and are two-floor buildings. Most of other people are from Univ. of Toledo and Bowling Green State University in Ohio. Some are from Univ of Minnesota, Univ of Maryland, Ohio University and Arkon University.

The next day it provided food for us and i like them. According to the event schedule, we should go to the meeting after the breakfast at 9. However, I didn't do that. Instead, I went hiking around the lake and enjoyed the fresh air there. Fortunately, the weather was very good and has bright sunshine at the weekend. We had free time to go canoing and play all kinds of sports like freesbee, basketball and Ping Pang after lunch. I think it is the first time that I had the most exercise since I came to US. I played basketball very well there and had very high shot. I don't know how I can make it.

The major task is to discuss Bible and listen to others' experience about how to grow to be a christian. I am still doubt of what they said because I had a lot of confusion of Bible. Meanwhile, I can't understand why some chinese believe in God so deeply. There I met a Hongkong student from Univ of Minnesota and became good friends with him due to something in common. I told him that I will attend a meeting in Univ of Minnesota in July. He invited me to visit him and would like to show me around the city. I am so excited about that.

On the way back, we met with a parade at a little town in Ohio which is also the first time to meet. Justin told me it is for Memorial day. Indeed, I saw numerious American flag besides each tomb on the road. We also stopped by Cabela's store, which is the biggest store of outdoor sports in Michigan such as fishing, hunting. I purchased a winter coat there at a price of half discount.

After getting home, I felt so tired although I did not have any feeling during the time of camping.

  • the end of the first school year

It is totally free from any classes and exams since 29th, April. Suddenly I find everything is changing. I have survived in the endless quizes of Advanced Mycology and busy schedule. Some friends went out of my sight and some others became my close friends. Now I am very familiar with the campus. I will not lost myself again and do not have to hold a map to look for some places. I am also learning how to balance my classes and project although it is still hard for me.

I still remembered my first exam here. It was very bad. I just got 50 grades. I felt very depressed and guilty when I learned about it because I am a foreigner graduate here. After the class, I had to meet the instructor. She is a nice and kind woman. Now I can't memorize what we talked about. Soon my advisor seriously warned me that it never happened before that the student failed in the class. I knew it was not a good reason that I lived in a non-furnitured apartment. She hoped that I could catch up with other students as soon as possible and found a tutor for this class. Besides, she offered me her house and wanted me to rent it to have a good study surrounding. I had to told her what I studied every week by E-mail until I got a good grades. Finally I did not take neither of them because It costed me much money. I chose to transfer to another apartment at Spartan Village and study hard by myself and take notes of my colleague. I made it at last and got 84 grades at the second exam. At that moment, I felt ease and was confident of my ability. Since then I was comfortable to take every tests. However, I did not spend too much time and energy on my project that I should work on. During this time, I spent my first Holloween day, Thanksgiving day and Christmas day which I just learned from TV show Friends before. I was also crazy about them like most American. I wore the costume to attend the holloween party and danced there to the loud music. I tried to wait outside the Bestbuy to get some cheap stuff and quited finally because of too many crazy American there. Fortunally, I went to a chinese's apartment and met some new friends and had a delicious hot pot. The next day, I went shopping at Merdian Mall and also got some cheap clothes. I will never plan to take any crazy action to wait in line for cheap things. Soon the biggest holiday Christmas came, I visited a church to sing with many local people and students and then stopped by the chinese's apartment again to have a game about Christmas gift. What's more excited is that I fried to Altanta and had a chance to tour around a relatively big American city. I visited CNN, Centennial Olympic park and their New Year celebration events. I really enjoyed it. It left a best memory on me. The new semester was on the way quietly.

I experienced the long and cold winter at MI and a tough course named Advanced Mycology. In this class all the students are from our lab and all are smart. We have to turn in two abstracts, identified two unknown fungi and had a quiz for the passing week. I felt unexpectable pressure from it. Luckily, another class is not too hard for me. I did not do well at the first several quizes. However, I got used to it step by step. Now it is time to say touch down. I won the first school year.

In all, everything seems normal for me now.
