One Message of Hope for People of All Nations

After his Resurrection Jesus appeared to the eleven remaining disciples in Galilee and proclaimed, “all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations” (MATTHEW 28:18-19). During his ministry on the earth Jesus strictly forbade the disciples from preaching to Gentiles or Samaritans, though he himself did so on a few occasions (thus anticipating the opening of the Gospel to Gentiles). They were to proclaim the Good News of God’s Kingdom only to the “lost sheep of Israel” (MATTHEW 10:1-6). However, now that Jesus had been resurrected, made Lord over all and given all authority, his followers were tasked with bringing the Gospel to all nations, not just to fellow Jews.
