Urgent Appeal: Elderly Tianjin Resident Sentenced to Labor Camp for Distributing Falun Gong Leaflets, at Risk of Torture
I am forwarding this urgent message on behalf of the Falun Gong.
Buffalohair,
15 other adherents sentenced to camp in one year; many tortured
27 Feb 2009
Ms. Zhu Lijin (left), a 61-year-old mother of New Zealand citizen Salina Wang (right), was sentenced without trial in Tianjin and is at risk of torture.Ms. Zhu Lijin (left), a 61-year-old mother of New Zealand citizen Salina Wang (right), was sentenced without trial in Tianjin and is at risk of torture.
New York – An elderly resident of the city of Tianjin was sentenced earlier this month to over one year in a labor camp after police found her distributing leaflets about Falun Gong. She is one of 15 local adherents sentenced in recent months to this particular camp and is at grave risk of torture, the Falun Dafa Information Center reported Friday.
Ms. Zhu Lijin, a 61-year-old retired government worker and mother of a New Zealand citizen, was arrested from the streets of Tianjin on February 1, 2009 while distributing information about Falun Gong to passers by. Security agents then searched her home without a warrant, confiscating computer equipment and Falun Gong literature. Within less than two weeks, on February 16, her family was notified that she had been sentenced for one year and three months without a trial. She is currently being held at Banqiao Women’s “Re-education through labor” camp.
“How can a lady over 60 years old handing out leaflets be considered such a threat to the Chinese Community Party (CCP)? My mother is not a criminal and she has done nothing wrong,” says Zhu’s daughter Salina (Yu) Wang, a New Zealand citizen currently residing in New York. “She has the right to follow her belief and she has the right to tell people the truth about Falun Gong. These are basic human rights guaranteed under China’s constitution and international law.”
This is the first time that Zhu, who took up Falun Gong in 2005, has been imprisoned for practicing. After her arrest, her family was initially denied access to her, but has been allowed to visit her very briefly since her sentencing. She reportedly remains in fair physical health, but is already being subjected to efforts to force her to disavow her beliefs and has complained of insufficient nutrition at the camp. Should she remain committed to her faith, such efforts at “re-education” could quickly escalate into severe torture (Washington Post).
In particular, former prisoners from Banqiao RTL camp have reported a range of torture methods used to force adherents to renounce their beliefs, including shocking with electric batons, solitary confinement, forced-feeding, sexual abuse, and injection with unidentified psychiatric drugs. The labor camp authorities are also known to force detainees to work extremely long hours on tasks such as producing raincoats for export to Korea or sorting dried beans. As a result of such abuse, several adherents imprisoned there have suffered permanent mental or physical disability. At least two have been tortured to death. See, for example: http://www.falunhr.org/index.php?option=conten...
Most recently, in November 2008, family members of an adherent named Gong Hui detained at the camp reported that she had been tortured to the verge of death after long periods of abuse and solitary confinement. She had become emaciated within just three months of detention there. Gong was arrested on August 13, during the period of the Olympic games, and arrived at the labor camp in September after being given a 15-month sentence.
“This is the time to intervene on Zhu Lijin’s behalf,” says Falun Dafa Information Center spokesman Erping Zhang. “We cannot afford to wait until news of her being tortured makes its way out of China.”
Broader Crackdown
Zhu’s detention and sentencing would appear not to be an isolated case, but rather part of a larger crackdown on Falun Gong adherents in the city and nationwide that began in the run-up to the Olympics and has continued as the 10-year anniversary of the persecution approaches.
According to reports received by the Falun Dafa Information Center, at least 15 other female adherents in the city have been sentenced to Banqiao labor camp since April 2008, most for between 12 and 18 months. The actual number may be higher and this total does not include Tianjin residents sentenced to other camps and prisons in the city.
“If 15 adherents have been sentenced to one camp in one city alone, multiply that by the nearly 300 camps in the country and we’re looking at a minimum of 4,000 Falun Gong practitioners sentenced to RTL in the past year,” says Zhang. “No wonder recent interviews with former detainees by the Chinese Human Rights Defenders group indicate that Falun Gong practitioners make up a huge percentage of the population in labor camps.” You can add the link from the recent bulletin.
Something else to finish it up here – or perhaps just add the quotation from that report that is in the recent bulletin and then link to it here.
The Falun Dafa Information Center is calling for:
* International media and human rights groups to investigate the case of Zhu Lijin and the broader trend of multi-year prison and labor camp sentences being handed down to Falun Gong adherents before and after the Olympic games.
* Foreign government representatives, particularly those from Tianjin’s sister cities such as Philadelphia,…. To write to their counter parts in Tianjin, urging the immediate and uncondition release of Zhu Lijin.

Buffalohair: Denmark Extorts Burmese Democracy Groups
Denmark Extorts Burmese Democracy Groups
In a stunning turn of events the Danish government organization, DANIDA, informed pro democracy groups they would cease funding if they did not participate in the illegal elections in 2010 as reported in the Asian Times.
Denmark, a member of the World Trade Organization, clearly they violated the European Unions ban on high-level visits to Burma as well as show the lack of moral fiber. Denmark’s Development Minister Ulla Toraes and Norway’s Minister of Development Erick Solheim deceived their citizens as well as the world when they traveled to Burma to observe Cyclone Nargis relief efforts.
Toraes and Solheim chose to side with the criminal regime of Burma and use extortion to force pro democracy groups to participate in the elections or loose critically needed funding. The world should be aware of the character of this duo of deception and blackmail for it is not the voices of the countries they represent. Did they also receive bribes from Than Shwe like it is alleged Ibrahim Gambari? Or are they part and parcel in the pockets of international interests who seek to rape Burma of all her natural resources?
With Secretary of Hate Hillary Clinton choosing to address economical concerns rather than human suffering it is obvious human rights has no place in society. Toraes and Solheim should be investigated and their finances reveled to see if they received gratuities and favor from unknown sources. Chances are they are deeply involved with the likes of Swift Financial Group who launders Euro’s through their elaborate financial network for the Military Regime of Burma. They do not represent the good people of Denmark or Norway and should be sanctioned at the very least for their amoral conduct.
How dare these boneheads qualify a criminal regime that uses rape, false imprisonment and death to force their rule on a nation? How dare they insult the fallen hero’s of Burma’s struggle to achieve democracy and human rights? How far beyond stupid are these mental giants to qualify genocide and the continual assault of Karen and other tribal people? There must be more to this act of collusion committed morally bankrupt Toraes and Solheim and it is strongly suggested that journalists around the world probe more deeply into these partners of Than Shwe for their actions are despicable as best. Obviously they both are puppets of international corporatists who place money before humanity and would sell their respective nations for monetary gain. Is Norway next to propose sanctions of democracy? It’s all about the money.

Buffalohair: Thaksin A Man without a Country
Thaksin A Man without a Country
The convicted criminal ex Prime Minister of Thailand, Thaksin Shinawatra and his bride Pojaman, had their visa's revoked by the UK today according to The Nation. Here is a reprint of the notice given airlines;
"Dear All,
The United Kingdom Border Agency has revoked the UK visas held by the following Thai nations:
Thaksin Shinawatra. Thai Passport Number D215863
Potjaman Shinawatra. Thai Passport Number D206635
The UK visas contained in the passports of the individuals listed above are no longer valid for travel.
Airlines are advised not to carry these passengers to the UK"
*** end *****
Well I'll bet there is a ball club in Jolly Ole England that will be up for sale soon since ole Thaksin will not be allowed to play anymore. Convicted of corruption Thaksin was of the mind he was immune to Thai justice and the rule of law. To bad so sad for this friend of dictator Than Shwe of Burma and I'll wager his cronies will find a similar fate in the future. Sadly Thaksin is cronies with American corporations as well and like I've said in the past, "Birds of a feather flock together" and if we followed the money it would lead to the good ole USA as well.
Though Thailand is in the midst of cleansing corruption within their political arena there is still a level of decency that is very admirable. I am envious since our government condones the conduct Thaksin was convicted of. Violations of their sacred constitution is not tolerated since the populous still has a voice in their government unlike the US where we are dictated to, it would appear. The people of Thailand are very adamant about their constitution and American's should take notes in how democracy works.
Thaksin and Somak exercised what was called by People's Alliance for Democracy "Western Style Democracy that promoted corruption" Yup you heard right, the whole mess was over how Thaksin and Somak tried to copy our politicians by ignoring the Thai Constitution. Sadly for these thugs the Thai people did not buy into it one bit. Thaksin was convicted and tried to hide in the UK. Somak will serve 2 years in the joint for his sins and the current PM, Somchai Wongsawhat who is Thaksin's brother-in-law, is under close scrutiny.
But the struggle to maintain democracy has not been an easy journey since the People Power Party, Thaksins political party, clashed with People's Alliance for Democracy with deadly results. Democracy has always been a struggle to maintain and vigilance by the voting public has been the only way to keep corruption at bay. America used to be vigilant and guarded democracy with a passion but now we are complacent and
Somchai does not appear to be any different from what I've researched on him. Well with Thaksin as a brother-in-law it does not take a Rhodes Scholar to figure out that nuts don't fall far from the tree. And with this axiom it should be obvious who the other corrupt players are as they come to Thaksins aid. People should take note who Thaksin's cronies are world wide. Maybe they will see how far the cancer of corruption and greed has traveled.

Buffalohair: Now What?
Now What?
Nothing, it’s already a done deal no matter what we want to believe. There are no champions of the American people, or the world, anymore. The Constitution is being ignored by both political parties in favor of Corporatism and the New World Order, like it or not. Hammering out a deal in this Bail-Out is criminal at best as we succumb to extortion. After observing the desperation in the politician’s eyes on both sides of the fence it’s all too apparent they are invested in these troubled markets. Believe me; we are of no concern to them at this juncture. They are struggling to save their empires and they will stoop to any depths to save their personal fortunes, anything. Starting wars for fun and profit is the standard operating procedure these days. So beware just in case GW declares war on Santa Barbara, California or something.
Ideology or no ideology we must be prepared to tighten our belts and hunker down for the impending storm fore this Bail-Out will do little for us. You don’t have to share my opinions but just prepare especially if you have family. Natural events will add to the mix of fun and games as we enter the next phase of this time of change though. What we take for granted now will be a luxury in the future. Simple preparation like having water containers to haul your water will be a good one eh. Maybe electricity will take a dump as well, then what? Hygiene should be an absolute priority, we simply need to be more self sufficient and innovative if we plan to survive the hard times ahead. Would not be the first time America or the world faced such a daunting challenge though. The Depression/Dust Bowl Era was a very humbling time but America became a stronger nation for it. Like a Phoenix, out of the rubble of financial ruin rose the leader of the free world and a champion of democracy, The United States of America. Maybe she will rise again once we stop feeding this corporate cancer called the One World Order.
The Bail-Out or Pay-Off will do little for the working class who’ve already lost their jobs and homes. The damage is done to the real Americans. Businesses have already been placed on the auction block while corporations moved their manufacturing facilities to third world countries. Like one homeless woman told me, “We already lost our voice”.
I reflect on the stories I’ve already written “Homeland and Homeland 2” and how the average American was excluded from the democratic process. I remembered the New Homeless who were traveling to relations or simply wandering aimlessly trying to understand why they lost their homes and jobs. Americans having to sell off their prized personal possessions to garner gas money to finish their journey made my heart ache. Then to interview them only to discover they were like lost children. Many people were still in a state of shock over loosing their jobs. I remember this gentleman who showed me degree after degree; his portfolio was quite impressive but not impressive enough to keep his company from down sizing and moving their engineering department to a Third World Country. In four months he lost his job, home and eventually his family. It was only a few short months ago when I met these jobless Americans. And I know there were many more I did not manage to see. The damage is already done and America has been bankrupt.
Interestingly enough my advice goes out to the good people of the world since they are caught in this spider web of corporate greed and this One World Garbage. With world lending giants in a fix, housing markets in the toilet and nations plunged into an economical abyss it is obvious this is more than coincidental. Everyone hates a conspiracy but I contend all this financial turmoil was staged and part of the grand scheme to usher in the savior, “A One World Economy” better known as the corporate take over of the world. Mussolini’s dream of Corporatism has come to pass, lock stock and tomahawk. Come on, with world leaders doing as they wish and not the will of their people we all have been living in a dictatorship for quite some time. George W. Bush finished off America and the very core of the Constitution as he and his gang ransacked America’s coffers and lined the pockets of corporate interests. World leaders who’ve followed GW’s lead did the same thing to their countries. GB’s PM Brown is getting anxious while Sarkozy has fitful dreams of the French Revolution. Partners in crime, they have guilt written all over them. Who else eh?
How far beyond stupid are we anyway? Just from a business standpoint it would be a stupid investment to buy bad notes and delinquent mortgages. Gads, they are already in default. How much worse should they be? So we are going to invest in bad securities. By purchasing these bad notes is the United States of America going to become the biggest collections agency in the world? Are the people who’ve defaulted going to be taken to debtor’s prison, loose their licenses and have property ceased whence they can’t pay Uncle Sam? Think about it for one second. Something has to happen to these delinquent notes and you better believe the IRS and the US Treasury will want to get their hands on these delinquent bank notes and foreclosures, that is a given. Garnishments of payroll and income tax returns will be a given I’ll wager. Ironically the very corrupt and tyrannical stewardship the colonist’s band together and defeated has returned. Remember something called the Revolutionary War? I also found it ironic colonists had a Mad King George as well. I wonder if GW’s pee is blue, hmm.
I worked in the collections field back in the day and it’s always worked out like this. The selling of bad notes goes to various collections entities who bid on blocks of bad debts. Once they are sold the debts are processed for further collections. Notes don’t just disappear; by selling these notes in this Bail-Out corporate embezzlers will get a free pass as the bulk of the financial burden is passed back to the tax payer. It’s a financial pardon and a get out of jail free card big time for an absolute minority who’ve robbed America blind. Sadly their tyranny has already spread across the globe like a flesh eating strep. Oh well, to bad so sad. Maybe people will figure it out or maybe not. Ain’t nothing but a meatball Paisan. Bad Guys 1, Good Guys 0.

Buffalohair: Speech to Nowhere
Speech to Nowhere
With Alaskan Governor Sarah Palin’s acceptance speech out of way it is very clear Bushes agenda will move forward whence Senator John “What Houses?” McCain takes office, and then some. A host of former candidates including “America’s Philanderer” Rudy Giuliani spoke highly of this articulate Junior Governor. King George W. Bush beamed an endorsement for Sarah raising the hair in the back of my neck like an omen. Karl “Above the Law” Rove was almost giddy as he spoke on national TV about this dynamo with good reason. The firing of law enforcement officials, including ex Wasilla Police Chief . . . . Link to more of the story!!

Buffalohair: Bees, Trucks and Plows
Bees, Trucks and Plows
When you look at the big picture it is all too apparent trucks are to commerce like bees are to plants. Hurriedly trucks move from one dock to another spreading the pollen of industry and commerce. Each truck, no matter how small, is moving product to the consumer directly or via warehouses only to be redistributed by other trucks.
Sadly, like the bee, trucking companies are disappearing at an alarming rate. With thousands of independent trucking companies closing their doors and an estimated 250,000 tractor/trailers repossessed in the first quarter this is a grave indicator. Clearly 80% of the communities in the United States and Canada get their goods, fuel and the like via truck exclusively. Will rural America and Canada disappear whence their link to commerce and the outside world ceases to exist?
Einstein once said;
"If the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would only have four years of life left."
I venture to state whence the trucks stop rolling people will only have the food in their pantry to survive on. Could you imagine the panic when people discovered there would be no more deliveries to their favorite markets? It would be combat shopping at its best. Small industries that depend solely on trucks to peddle their goods would simply disappear. Fresh produce and meat would be a thing of the past. Many products would vanish. Milk would be gone as well as other time sensitive food stuffs. Like removing the red blood cell, nothing would get fed or have a vehicle to remove its waste.
If no one noticed, two major food baskets within the United States are in serious peril. Course “speculators” will soon drive up the price of food stuffs just like they did with fuel (Enron Loophole). Governor Schwarzenegger of California recently declared a drought in California do to the lack of water. California is a major agricultural producer for Canadian, US markets and food wholesaler’s world wide. Poof now there is a water shortage in California eh. Wildfires have added to the plight of California. I dread what life will be like in the cities whence rationing begins. Millions of acres of farmland will soon turn to dust. The impact of this catastrophe is immeasurable because of California’s diverse agricultural industry. Industry as a whole will suffer from the lack of water. Wonder if golf courses will be exempt from water restrictions. It will surely have a dynamic impact on some of the heaviest populated places on Earth, there is no question.
In Iowa alone millions of acres of farmland are still underwater from the ravages of flooding. Again, the impact is immeasurable at this juncture since the mid west was also a heavy hitter in the agricultural and industrial market place. Thousands more American’s will be added to the list of “new Homeless” as the flood water recedes. These events are going to affect us all in the very near future. At some juncture money will be worthless fore it will not be able to purchase something that is simply not there. What was once considered a third world problem, food and water shortages, has become a stark reality in the good ole USA.
Ah what the hell, we don’t need them trucks. With no food to transport what’s the point anyway? After all with the Northwest Passage defrosted now, we can get our food from ships. Those folks living in the boonies will just have to move to costal cities. As for those businesses locate in the rural reaches, oh well, we’ll just buy from China. Just one problem puzzles me though. Where will the water come from for the millions of people in the parched cities? “Let them drink scotch”.
The land of milk and honey, hmmm

Buffalohair DEATH IN PRISON CANADA STYLE
DEATH IN PRISON CANADA STYLE
A prisoner bleed to death while guards did nothing. There was no first aid administered and prison officials failed to do a comprehensive investigation. Accuracy of the event was very sketchy at best. The prison was known for racism from both the staff and the prisoners. But official’s content there was no cover up, hmm. You’d think this was Burma or other totalitarian regime with a barbaric and total disregard for their inmates. But alas this event occurred at the Warkworth Institution, Trent Hills, Ontario Canada.
An Aboriginal inmate, Martin Blackwind, was successful in committing suicide by slicing an artery in his arm. He was doing a 17 year prison sentence for manslaughter when this occurred. The guards stood by as he bled to death and only after 10 minutes did the ambulance arrive but by then he had already expired. The guards involved directly with the incident were given time off without pay, imagine. If it were not for the efforts of Federal Correctional Investigator Howard Saper this crime would have gone unchecked like so may other questionable deaths that occurred in Canada’s Gulag. There was more than just a hint of racial bias reveled in the investigation of this institution as well.
Sadly this is not an isolated case. Ambivalence to crimes against minority inmates permeates the system through out Canada’s penal system. This should be of no surprise since police have allowed intoxicated Aboriginals to freeze to death in the elements rather than take them to jail in several communities I know of. The Crown is but a Crown of Thorns when the concerns of the Aboriginal population are concerned. The judicial system is bias at best and this event may very well not lead to criminal prosecution regardless of its discovery.
It still boggles the imagination how this inmate got the instrument to lacerate his artery in the first place. He was left alone in a cell, or was he? Did the guards simply watch as his life’s blood spilled onto the concrete floor? How callous and cruel could a group of guards be to allow a human being to die before their very eyes without event administering the basics of first aid? Maybe they just forgot. Then for the system to bungle reports and exclude important facts of the case was incomprehensible. But officials said there was no cover up eh.
