Wednesday, 19 October 2011 at 10:47

Though it may be a little difficult, learning a second language is a great skill. How hard it will be will depend on your native language and your current age. The French language is very similar to Italian. They both have many of the same spellings and sentence structure. On the other hand, things may become difficult if you were to try to learn these similar languages at the age of 80. Studies have shown that the further down the line you get, the harder it becomes to learn a new language, no matter how similar it is to your native tongue. While you are still young, use this time to learn another language since it is much easier to do so now.

The easiest language to learn will both resemble and sound like your native one. Western European languages are great examples.

Moreover, Lithuanians will find the Russian language the easiest to learn. As for an English speaker, it is difficult to find a language very similar to it. However, Spanish may be the easiest for a native English speaker. You may find various Spanish words very equivalent to English words like ‘conversación’, ‘región’, and ‘sofá’. If you would like, try moving to a Spanish speaking environment since it will be additional aid in learning the language directly. With Spanish speaking people populating North America more and more, this is a great language to learn in order to open up to these people. There are beautiful countries like Honduras and Costa Rica to explore.
