Rettward von Doernberg is a trained composer currently living and working in Berlin, Germany. His music has been featured on TV, radio, stage and in a computer game. He was formally trained at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where he studied under acclaimed film composers as well as Academy Award winners such as Hans Zimmer, Alan Silvestri and James Newton Howard. For many years, von Doernberg performed as guitarist, singer and songwriter in genres such as pop music, heavy metal and psychedelic rock. He studied electric guitar at the renowned Musicians Institute (GIT) in Los Angeles and graduated with honors. His first piece of contemporary classical music is entitled "Cosmos – a concerto for eight electric guitars and four electric basses." It hit the eMusic.com charts, placing among the website’s Top 100 Albums based on sales at its online store. Rhapsody.com rated von Doernberg as one of its Top 50 electronic artists. "Night Drive," his first piece of ambient music, has been heard on more than 30 radio stations and podcasts, including such names as Spacemusic, HRB1, Subsonic Temple Radio, Idyllic Music and Epiphany Radio. To this day, von Doernberg continues to compose film scores. His most recent project, the award-winning animated short Manic Moondays by Martin Schiffter, has been shown at film festivals around the world and televised a total of six times.
