How do I choose a reliable and secure password?
Choosing a password is extremely important when it comes to social networking. After all, you will put a lot of information online and some of it might be confidential. This is why you want to prevent others from
accessing your account. It is not advisable to use passwords that carry some obvious connotations.
Forget about using your birth date (whether forward or backwards). Choosing your hobby, your girlfriend's name or simply your nickname is no good either.
Moreover, you should never give your password away to anybody, be it your friend, your sister or a member claiming to be a Netlog admin. When it comes to security you should not give anybody the opportunity to spill the beans.
One more good advice is to never save cookies on computers that are not accessed by yourself only...
Here are some useful tips on how to come up with a reliable and secure password that will guard your private information effectively:
- include both numbers and symbols
- the longer your password is the better (4 to 20 characters on Netlog)
- avoid repetitions, dictionary words, sequences like '1234' or 'abcd' and biographical information
- try to introduce some real randomness. This means that you really should take your password from the middle of nowhere.
If you still have trouble with coming up with a good password for your Netlog account, you can create a very strong password here.
Stay safe on Netlog !
