About me

Designers Against AIDS (DAA) is the initiative of non-profit organisation Beauty without Irony. Founded in 2004, DAA is dedicated to raising awareness about HIV/AIDS among young people worldwide. Central to its approach in appealing to a youth audience is the integration of elements from pop culture such as music, art, fashion, social media, celebrities, photography, film and sports.

The IHAEC
DAAʼs most recent and ambitious project was the opening of an International HIV/AIDS Awareness Education Center (IHAEC) in Antwerp, Belgium for young people aged 18 to 28. The IHAEC hosts young people from all over the world teaching them how to set up effective and creative HIV awareness and prevention campaigns using DAA’s iconic pop culture methodology. The aim of the project is for participants to implement these learnings and co-create a campaign with the DAA team drawing on a communications medium that appeals to them. The participants then take this knowledge home to build up equally successful campaigns in their home country, sharing their skills and experiences about HIV/AIDS awareness among their peers.
