Over 10 years on and counting, the same inner flame that fueled four teenagers making a primal noise in a Ukiah, Calif., garage has propelled AFI to unforeseen musical and professional levels, as evident on Sing The Sorrow, due out March 11, 2003, on DreamWorks Records. "We've been doing this for a long time, and we love it more than anything," says AFI singer Davey Havok". To play music you're passionate about every night - it's like a dream. AFI is a band with fiercely loyal fans ( including mee! ) who embrace the gradual transformation the band has undergone with each album since 1999's Black Sails in the Sunset. Where many bands get called out for signing to a major label or even just maturing their sound over time, AFI fans have chiefly stayed devoted to their ever-evolving goth-punk heroes. The band was formed in 1991 with David Havok on vocals, Markus Stopholese on guitar, Vick as bassist, and Adam Carson as the drummer, David Havok being my personal favourite.

Regarding the album's title, lead singer Davey Havok said, "Decemberunderground is a time and a place. It is where the cold can huddle together in darkness and isolation. It is a community of those detached and disillusioned who flee to love, like winter, in the recesses below the rest of the world."

The group's DECEMBERUNDERGROUND album has stormed to the top of the new Billboard chart with a 182,000 sales week, toppling country trio the DIXIE CHICKS' TAKING THE LONG WAY. It was also a great week for rap's new and old school, with YUNG JOC's NEW JOC CITY debuting at number three with 148,000 sales, and ICE CUBE back in the charts at four with LAUGH NOW, CRY LATER (145,000 sales).

Has a devoted fan base named Despair Faction.

Album "Very Proud of Ya" contained a hidden instrumental track entitled "No Dave Party" that can be heard by rewinding single "He Who Laughs Last" past the beginning of the song.

Their "Dork" EP cover featured the band's drummer, Adam Carson, as a high school student.

The CD case of their fourth album, "Black Sails in the Sunset", had a hidden message in its inner edge written "Beyond and To All Time I Stand" which turned out to be a lyric from hidden track "Midnight Sun."

LP "The Art of Drowning" actually has a special track entitled "Dream of Waking" which was only available on the 12" vinyl version.

Their song of "Rabbits are Roadkill On Route 37" initially was intended to be included in album "Sing the Sorrow", but later was dropped shortly before the LP's release.

Album "Sing the Sorrow" contained an untitled poem that ran from 4:48 until 8:42 after the end of single "...but home is nowhere."

Has recorded numerous covers of other band's song which included Nine Inch Nails' "Head Like A Hole", Guns N' Roses' "My Michelle", Duran Duran's "Rio", Misfits' "Halloween", Filth's "Today's Lesson", and Morissey's "Jack the Ripper."

Nabbed the Best Rock Video award at the 23rd annual MTV Video Music Awards, held August 31st, 2006 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, for their hit "Miss Murder".

Won the Alumni Woodie (a.k.a. The You're Still OK in Our Book) award at the 2006 mtvU Woodie Awards, held Oct 25th at New York's Roseland Ballroom.
