3 Copywriting Mistakes You Can Easily Never Commit

Copywriting may somewhat seem to be difficult to understand or apply the right way, but there are times when you'll feel the need to progress and go beyond. This can only be possible when you're sure of not making simple mistakes, like the ones we will be talking about in this article.

An effective and experienced copywriter realizes that much better results will occur when the copy addresses product, or service, benefits as opposed to the features. Yes, mentioning the features is important, but at the same time you have to remember that your prospect is interested in the benefits more. The reason for this is people buy a product if they find something in it that could be of advantage to them in some way. So if you're not clear about what your product has to offer, you won't see a very strong response from your target audience. A good way to tackle this problem is to write a feature and immediately follow it with a benefit. This would make your prospects understand the feature and what it can do for them. Your product solves some kind of problem the reader has, and good benefit bullets in sales copy will let them know how that product can do that for them.

Remember... paragraphs are not to be more than 5 sentences, but it's ok if they're shorter than that. You never want your readers to be annoyed or irritated, so you can help prevent that by generous use of white space coming through in your copy - but don't overdo it. Readers of sales copy can be picky, and if you can discomfort or annoy them in any way they'll turn around and be gone. Another important point about paragraphs is they should only be about one single point you're making and not more than that. Keep you copy "tight" and don't run off into tangents about anything for any reason. Don't overlook the power of story telling in your copy because it's very powerful and highly effective for a number of reasons. Stories accomplish a lot in sales copy from relaxing your reader to making him drop his defenses and become a bit more relaxed. But keep in mind that you don't want your story to be too long, and be sure to format all paragraphs into the short style for copy.

Also, you really do need to be careful about editing and fixing any grammar or spelling errors. It's just a fact of business that people will judge you, and if they think you don't have it together then they won't buy from you. But it's really no big deal, all you need to do is review your work and make corrections before sending it live. Unless you get everything right all the time, it is highly suggested you do not ignore the proofing and revision stage. One very good approach is to read it several times, and each time you'll be looking for different kinds of mistakes.

Any writer will tell you it requires time and dedication to become an effective copywriter. You can sort of instantly improve as a copywriter just by refusing to commit the silly mistakes. That's why we presented this article, so you can learn from others and improve.
