  • Halloween Magnets

I did manage to finish a set of Halloween magnets yesterday. They are now listed in my etsy store. I have a few more that I need to put together (five sets all together), but I wanted to finish at least one set and get it listed so people would know they were available. Today, I work on treat bags!

  • Halloween Project Plans

I purchased some felt today to make Halloween treat bags with. I'd like to try to make ghosts, witches, pumpkins, and Frankenstein. So, my plan for the weekend is to get those made and listed in my etsy store. We'll see how far I get lol.

I also have some cute witch, cat, and spider magnets made out of plastic canvas. I need to finish those by attaching ears, legs, hats, and eyes. I would also like to get them listed in my etsy shop by the end of the weekend. I think I'll sell those in groups of three.

If I have time, I would also like to try to make some Halloween coasters. I would like to do some primitive ones and others out of Halloween fabric. I need to get all of my Halloween crafting done within the next two weeks so we'll see how it goes.

  • Hannah Montana Coloring Totes

I just finished these Hannah Montana coloring book totes for a custom order. They're going to siblings so I decided I had better make them a bit different from each other to avoid any fighting.

  • Rocky's New Digs

I subscribe to this email list that's called Cheap Cycle. It covers northwestern PA. People list things for sale, garage sales, or things they're looking for. Well, I've been debating whether to get Rocky a new cage. Since he's old now, I didn't want to spend $200 on a cage for him. Last week, this lady had a three tiered ferret cage listed for sale for $50. So I emailed her and she sent me a picture and the dimensions. She lived near Mercer (about 20 miles away), so I went to look at it yesterday. I bought it.

It's really nice--and big!! He looks so tiny in it. It's not any longer or wider (it's actually a couple of inches narrower than his old cage), but it's a lot taller. It took him awhile to get used to it, but I think he likes it. The best part is, I can wheel it outside (it'll fit through the dining room/living room doorway unlike his other caget) and just spray it down.

Anyway, I was just excited I got a good deal like that and wanted to share lol.

  • Making Work Fun

So now that I have an office job, I do a lot of typing. Well, everyone knows that too much typing with your hands in the wrong position can cause carpal tunnel. So we should be cautious and use the right support for our wrists. Along those lines, I decided to make a wrist pad for my keyboard and my mouse at work. This is what I came up with--cute huh? After all, why should I use boring wrist pads when I can have cute and fun ones! My boss thought they were adorable.

  • New Bag

I just finished a purse for my SIL for Christmas. I’m also going to make her a matching checkbook cover and notepad holder to go with it. It's a teddy mini skirt purse. You'll find it in my pictures.

  • New Job & Electricity Outage

So far I'm quite enjoying my new job. I believe I've been waiting for something like this for a very long time. I've always wanted to do office work. Strange, I know. But for some reason, I've always liked to type, file, etc.

The people I work with are very nice, understanding, patient, and helpful too. Such a different work environment from what I'm used to. Not as much stress either, that's for sure. The customers that do come into the shop are rather pleasant--another thing I'm not entirely used to. It's a nice change.

It's also nice to have regular hours. By that I mean that I will be working the same hours every week, not different ones from week to week. So it'll be easier to make plans. No more nights, no more weekends--a big plus. It's so nice to be home every night, and it will be quite a change getting used to not having to work weekends anymore. I believe I can try to get used to it though lol.

So, with the new job, the week has been going well so far. Except for the fact that we did lose our electricity Sunday night. During the Steelers game. I was NOT amused. Mike had to hook up the generator. The electricity managed to come on around 10:30 yesterday morning, but when I got home from work last night, it was off again. All night. Hooked up the generator--again. So, when I got home for lunch at noon, Mike said it had come back on again around 11:30. It's stayed on since. So hopefully, the problem is fixed. I shouldn't complain--but it is a pain. Especially if you have a well because not only do you lose power, you also lose water.

  • The Week Ahead

My last day at JoAnn's was yesterday. The relief I felt when I walked out knowing I wouldn't have to go back to work there was enormous. I'm pretty happy and content now knowing I won't have to deal with all the high school b.s. that goes on there, nasty customers, and a bad work schedule.

On a great note: I'm looking forward to just working at my new job. Better hours, no nights, no weekends, not as much stress. It's going to be wonderful. We set up my work schedule Weds and it's great--25 hrs a week Mon-Fri.

Also my physical therapy is finished tomorrow. So, this will be a good week. I'm feeling happy, content, and relaxed for the first time in over a month. It's been very stressful working two jobs and going through p.t. I'm just so relieved it's finally over.

  • Bad Week

My week has not been good. First off, I had to call in sick to my new job. Didn't want to do that but I really was sick. I got some kind of a bad bug. My new boss told me that my calling in had her a bit concerned. I've only been there a couple of weeks and already I've had to leave early and then I call in sick. Not a very good start. I was almost worried that she was going to decide not to hire me after all. Wouldn't that have been grand? But I convinced her that after next week (my last at JoAnn's), things will be better. At least I hope they will.

It's been rather difficult working two jobs and then having to go through physical therapy on top of all that. It wouldn't be so bad if JoAnn's had me working a steady schedule, but of course they don't so it's very difficult to schedule around oddball hours. Plus I haven't had too much time off between the two jobs. Next week will be worse because I only have two days off at JoAnn's and a few of the days I work there I'll be working at the new job too.

So, other than the job "problems", yesterday on my way to my new job, I ran over a 4" x 4" beam in the middle of the road that I didn't see. How didn't I see a big beam you ask. Well, I was following two semis and neither one swerved or bounced up as if they had hit anything so of course, why would I think there was anything in the road to avoid? I didn't see it until I was right on top of it. I swerved to avoid it but not fast enough. I ran over it with the left side of the Torrent and almost lost control because it threw me to the right so hard and fast. Thank goodness I didn't panic and slam my brakes or jerk my wheel or I could've ended up off the road and hurt seriously bad (nothing but ravine on that road).

So, we took it into the dealership at lunchtime. It messed the tracking all up so they straightened that out as best they could. Did some other major damage to the steering and such (can't remember now what all Mike said), put a huge bubble in the rear tire and messed up the wheel. Great. So now we have to wait for the insurance company to get back to us so we can get it fixed. It's drivable now, but it will need the other repairs ASAP.

Now, this is going to be fun because I will be without a vehicle probably next week while it's in the shop. Hopefully it'll only be a day. Maybe we can get it set up for Tuesday since that'll be the only day I'll have off both jobs. I'd hate to miss any more work at the new job. I could care less about JoAnn's. So we'll see.

I sure hope the week after next will be better than this week has been.

  • News

I gave my two weeks notice at work last Saturday. So I have a total of seven days to work at JoAnn's and then I'm out of there. Can't wait. No more nasty customers to deal with, no more crazy hours, no more stress. Geez it's going to be nice!!

I'm learning a little bit of everything at Stitch Art. I even got a chance to see how labels for the scrubs are made (they sell those in the store). I'm not sure what I'll get a chance to do when the other office girl comes back though. She seems to like to do everything herself so it should be interesting. Hopefully she doesn't have me just sitting around watching her like before. Especially now that I've keyed in orders and done some things on my own.

On another note--I did get a couple of things made for a big Christmas order I have. I still have to finish the rest of my Christmas things. I have two purses, a toy for my great nephew, and something for my Dad to make. Not sure what to do for him. He's hard.
